Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ)

The Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ) is Vietnam’s national authority that oversees the development of standards, metrology, and quality systems across multiple industries. It operates under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) and is responsible for ensuring that Vietnamese products and services comply with international quality and safety standards, enhancing their competitiveness in global markets.

STAMEQ’s mission includes the development and implementation of national standards (TCVN), as well as the oversight of metrological regulations to guarantee the accuracy of measurements across industries. This ensures consistency in product quality, environmental protection, and industrial development.

STAMEQ works closely with global organizations like the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) to align Vietnam’s standards with global norms. The organization is also a key player in representing Vietnam within the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) standards bodies.

STAMEQ is also heavily involved in promoting quality management systems within Vietnam's industries. Through its work, the organization helps businesses adopt internationally recognized certification standards, including ISO 9001 and other sector-specific certifications. This promotes sustainable industrial practices and positions Vietnam as a reliable global trading partner.
