Ghana Standards Authority (GSA)

The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) is Ghana’s national standards organization, responsible for developing and promoting standards to ensure quality, safety, and interoperability across various sectors. Established in 1965, GSA operates under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Its mission includes formulating national standards, coordinating with international bodies, and supporting the adoption of best practices to enhance industry, public welfare, and environmental sustainability in Ghana.

GSA collaborates with both national and international organizations to align Ghanaian standards with global best practices. It is an active member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Through its involvement with the African Organization for Standardization (ARSO) and other regional bodies, GSA helps harmonize standards across Africa and promotes their global adoption. This collaboration supports the integration of Ghanaian standards into the international framework and enhances the competitiveness of Ghanaian products and services in global markets.

To achieve its objectives, GSA continuously updates its standards and methodologies to reflect technological advancements and market needs. It provides a comprehensive range of services, including standards development, certification, and training across diverse sectors such as construction, healthcare, and information technology.
