FSSC 22000

The FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification) standard is an international standard applied in food production to ensure food safety and protect human health. This standard applies to all stages of food production, from raw materials to finished products, including transportation, storage, and distribution.

The FSSC 22000 standard was developed in the Netherlands in collaboration with relevant organizations such as ISO, the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). It integrates the quality management system requirements of ISO 9001 with the food safety management system requirements of ISO 22000.

Certification according to this standard is intended for all organizations involved in food production, processing, or distribution, emphasizing food safety and compliance with international standards. Certification can be obtained for production of all types of products, including fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy products, and others.

Assessment against this standard is conducted by accredited certification bodies, which assess and verify whether the organization meets all the requirements of the FSSC 22000 standard. Certification under this standard has a limited validity period and requires additional (typically annual) audits to ensure its consistency and quality.
