Ghana National Accreditation Service (GhaNAS)

The Ghana National Accreditation Service (GhaNAS) is the official body responsible for accrediting organizations involved in testing, calibration, certification, and inspection services within Ghana. Established under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, GhaNAS plays a critical role in ensuring that these services meet internationally recognized standards, thus enhancing the quality and reliability of products and services within the country. This accreditation is essential for both local and international trade, promoting consumer protection and fostering industrial competitiveness.

GhaNAS forms a key part of Ghana's National Quality Infrastructure, alongside institutions like the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA). By providing accreditation services, GhaNAS helps build consumer confidence in the safety and quality of products and services. The service is aligned with the government's commitment to improving national quality standards, a move that supports economic growth and integration into global markets.

In addition to its accreditation functions, GhaNAS collaborates with international organizations to stay up-to-date with global best practices. This ensures that Ghanaian enterprises can comply with international trade requirements, particularly those related to the World Trade Organization's (WTO) technical barriers to trade and sanitary and phytosanitary measures.
