Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC)

The Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) is Iraq’s national standards body, responsible for developing and implementing standards to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency across various sectors. Established in 1971, COSQC operates under the Ministry of Planning. Its mission is to formulate national standards, coordinate with international bodies, and promote best practices to enhance industry, public welfare, and environmental sustainability in Iraq.

COSQC collaborates with both national and international organizations to align Iraqi standards with global best practices. It is an active participant in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Through its involvement with regional organizations and international standardization bodies, COSQC helps to harmonize standards and promote their global adoption. This collaboration supports the integration of Iraqi standards into the international framework and enhances the competitiveness of Iraqi products and services in global markets.

To achieve its objectives, COSQC continuously updates its standards and methodologies to reflect technological advancements and market needs. It provides a comprehensive range of services, including standards development, certification, and training across diverse sectors such as construction, healthcare, and information technology. By promoting the use of recognized standards, COSQC supports regulatory compliance, innovation, and consumer protection.
