Bureau of Accreditation (BoA)

The Vietnamese Bureau of Accreditation (BoA) is a national organization responsible for accrediting conformity assessment bodies in Vietnam. As part of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), BoA plays a crucial role in ensuring that laboratories, inspection bodies, and certification bodies meet national and international standards. Accreditation, unlike certification, is a process that evaluates whether these bodies are competent to perform specific conformity assessments. BoA provides accreditation in line with standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 for laboratories, ISO/IEC 17020 for inspection bodies, and ISO/IEC 17021 for certification bodies.

BoA is also a signatory to several international mutual recognition agreements, including those under the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). These agreements allow BoA-accredited bodies to have their results recognized internationally, promoting global trade and reducing the need for redundant testing or certification processes. This recognition is critical for Vietnamese companies looking to expand their market reach beyond national borders, as it ensures that their products and services meet the necessary international standards.

Through its work, BoA helps ensure that both Vietnamese and foreign consumers can trust the quality and safety of products and services that have been tested or certified within the country.
