Latvian Standard (LVS)

The Latvian Standard (LVS) is Latvia's national standards organization, responsible for developing and promoting standards to ensure quality, safety, and interoperability across various sectors. Established as a part of the Latvian Centre for Standardisation and Metrology, LVS operates under the Ministry of Economics. Its mission includes formulating national standards, coordinating with international bodies, and promoting best practices to support industry, public welfare, and environmental sustainability in Latvia.

LVS collaborates with both national and international organizations to align Latvian standards with global best practices. It is an active member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). These memberships facilitate the integration of international and European standards into Latvian regulatory and technical frameworks, supporting the competitiveness of Latvian products and services in the global market while ensuring compliance with international requirements.

To achieve its objectives, LVS continuously updates its standards and methodologies to reflect technological advancements and market needs. It provides a comprehensive range of services, including standards development, certification, and training across diverse sectors such as construction, healthcare, and information technology. By promoting the use of recognized standards, LVS supports regulatory compliance, innovation, and consumer protection in Latvia.
