About NIV "Novi Sad": The Scientific Veterinary Institute "Novi Sad" is a leading scientific research institution in the field of veterinary sciences and biotechnology in Serbia. It was established in 1950 by a decision of the National Assembly. The Institute is a non-budgetary institution owned by the state.

The Scientific Veterinary Institute "Novi Sad" is registered as a scientific research entity in the register of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, as well as in the register of veterinary institutions in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management – Veterinary Administration of the Republic of Serbia. As one of the 12 accredited state laboratories, along with the epizootiology service within the veterinary service system of the Republic of Serbia, the Institute is responsible for monitoring, diagnosing, controlling, preventing, and combating animal diseases, and distributing immunoprophylactic agents in the South Bačka and Srem districts.

About the Management Systems (Quality) Implemented by the Scientific Veterinary Institute "Novi Sad":

The Institute established and certified a quality management system and laboratory testing accreditation in 1998 according to international standards to demonstrate its ability to meet the requirements and expectations of its service users and other interested parties. The aim was also to prove its commitment to quality and allow internal and external parties to assess its dedication and capability.

In an effort to continuously improve its quality management system and keep up with changes in international standards, the Institute's management decided in 2001 to align its quality system with the process model and accredit the Laboratory Testing Department according to the new requirements of the international standards JUS ISO 9001:2001 and JUS ISO/IEC 17025:2001. The quality management system was certified on May 17, 2002, and the Laboratory Testing Department was accredited on December 18, 2003.

Scope and Application of the Management System:
The management system is applied throughout the entire organization of the Scientific Veterinary Institute "Novi Sad," located at Rumenački put 20, Novi Sad. NIV-NS has established, documented, implemented, maintained, and continuously improved its quality, environmental, and OHSAS (management systems).

The scope of application includes:

• Department of Epizootiology, Clinical Diagnostics, Pathology, and Laboratory Testing – code 100
• Department of Food Safety and Drug Testing – code 200
• Material Reception, Washing, and Sterilization Service – code 300
• General Services – code 400
• Quality Service – code 500
• Service for Safe Handling of Veterinary and Animal Waste – code 600

The management system also encompasses all processes performed by employees outside the organization (fieldwork).
