Bluesign Label

The bluesign label helps consumers and companies reduce harm to people and the planet by certifying textiles made with safer chemicals, less waste, and lower environmental impact. Products with the bluesign Product label meet strict criteria for chemical safety, worker protection, and resource efficiency across the textile supply chain.

Bluesign certification applies to clothing, footwear, home textiles, and outdoor gear like tents and luggage. To qualify, products must meet clear thresholds:

  • Apparel must include at least 90% bluesign certified fabric and 30% certified accessories (rising to 40% by 2027)

  • Denim must use 100% certified fabric and avoid harmful processes like chlorine bleaching and sandblasting

  • Footwear must meet requirements for 90% certified skin-contact materials and 30% certified accessories

More than 800 partners - including brands, chemical suppliers, and manufacturers - use the bluesign System to improve sustainability and eliminate hazardous substances across the supply chain.

The label goes beyond one-time checks. Bluesign supports continuous improvement through data tools, on-site assessments, and expert guidance, helping companies meet growing regulatory and customer demands. Independent verification ensures the label remains a trustworthy signal of responsible production.

Founded in Switzerland in 2000 and part of the SGS Group since 2008, bluesign serves the global textile, apparel, and footwear industries with a presence across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
