About Enological Station Vršac d.o.o. : Enological Station Vršac DOO Vršac is an accredited laboratory for physical-chemical, microbiological, biological-biochemical, and sensory testing of plant-based foodstuffs, wine, strong alcoholic beverages, natural mineral water, additives, aromas, animal feed, as well as items of general use.

 

The laboratory of the Enological Station comprises:

  • Department for physical-chemical and sensory testing;
  • Department for instrumental testing;
  • Department for microbiological and biological-biochemical testing;
  • Department for sampling and sample reception;
  • The tests conducted include:

Quality testing;

  • Testing for heavy metal content;
  • Testing for pesticide content;
  • Testing for mycotoxin content;
  • Microbiological testing;
  • Testing for other contaminants;

The laboratory operates in two shifts, six days a week, with the possibility of on-site sampling. Testing and sampling are conducted by qualified and trained personnel whose competence is regularly checked and confirmed.

The institution is recognized for wine and other alcoholic beverage analyses, authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture to conduct wine export analyses and organize panels and commissions for sensory testing.

 

About the Management Systems (Quality) Implemented by Enological Station Vršac d.o.o. :
Enological Station is one of the first accredited laboratories in Serbia (Accreditation number 01-017) according to the SRPS ISO/IEC 17025 standard for physical-chemical, microbiological, biological-biochemical, and sensory testing of plant-based foodstuffs, wine, strong alcoholic beverages, natural mineral water, additives, aromas, and items of general use.

Since its first accreditation, the standard requirements have been adhered to and upgraded, as confirmed by regular annual checks by the Accreditation Body of Serbia. The Enological Station is dedicated to improving the quality of its services through continuous monitoring of trends in control and testing, staff education, equipment modernization, and developing new testing methods.

 

Key Personnel (Experts in Management Systems)

  • Saša Popov:

Title: Graduate Physicochemist, Specialist in Physical Chemistry, and Master of Physical Chemistry
Experience: Employed at the Enological Station in Vršac since August 2000, working in the laboratory in the field of instrumental testing methods for plant-based foodstuffs, strong alcoholic beverages, wine, and general-use items. This includes analysis, interpretation of results, and validation of testing reports, as well as sensory evaluation of wine and alcoholic beverages:

  • Six years in heavy metal determination (AAS; ICP/OES)
  • Four years in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC/UV, HPLC/RI, IC, HPLC-MS/MS)
  • Four years in gas chromatography (GC/FID; GC/ECD, GC/MS)
  • Head of the Department for Instrumental Testing since 2013

Additional Activities:

  • Technical expert and assessor for the Accreditation Body of Serbia,
  • President of the Vršac branch of the Society of Physical Chemists of Serbia,
  • member of the Serbian Chemical Society, and involved in various municipal and organizational roles related to chemical safety and quality assessment.

 

  • Biljana Popović:

Title: Graduate Engineer of Technology for Chemical Processing and Pharmaceutical Engineering
Experience: Eleven years in the Quality Control Sector for physical-chemical testing and quality assurance, working as an independent expert associate. Seventeen years in the Physical-Chemical Laboratory in the segment of instrumental testing methods, developing and implementing methods for testing plant-based foodstuffs. Quality manager according to the SRPS ISO /IEC 17025:2017 standard for many years, with appropriate training.
