The Institute for Standardization - Serbia

The certification body of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia (hereinafter referred to as STISS) was established as a separate organizational unit of the Institute in accordance with the new obligations prescribed by the Law on Standardization

("Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia No. 36/2009 and No. 46/2015) and the Decision on Amendments and Supplements to the founding act of the Institute for Standardization ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia No. 93/2015 and No. 27/2016).

The Institute for Standardization, as the legal successor of the Federal Institute and then the Institute for Standardization, is considered the pioneer of certification in our country.

Back in 1993, the Federal Institute for Standardization issued the first certificate for a quality management system according to the JUS ISO 9001 standard in the former Yugoslavia. A large number of organizations were certified, contributing to the recognition of the economy of the former state.

From 2008 to 2016, the Institute, as the legal successor of the Institute for Standardization in accordance with the then Law on Standardization, ceased to provide certification services and focused its activities solely on standardization.

By reintroducing the service of certifying quality management systems according to the SRPS ISO 9001:2015 standard, the Institute for Standardization of Serbia, as the only national standardization body, promotes the application of standards and helps organizations achieve business success and recognition both locally and regionally, as well as in the European and international markets.
