Croatian Society for Quality Managers
About HDMK: The Croatian Society for Quality Management (HDMK) was established on July 3, 1996. It has over 150 members from both domestic and international origins. HDMK's goal is to gather experts in the field of quality to develop, promote, and expand the policy and development of quality management systems in accordance with the requirements of international standards ISO 9000, ISO 14000, and others.
HDMK's tasks include advancing the theory, practice, and culture of quality, supporting and conducting scientific and professional work in the field of quality management, assurance, and control, and advocating for the broader application of scientific research and professional work results in improving quality systems in Croatia. HDMK has organized and successfully held 20 international symposia on quality, involving around 1000 authors from 30 countries worldwide, with 701 scientific and professional papers published in proceedings. The 10th symposium held in March 2009 in Zadar, the 15th symposium in 2014 in Zagreb, and the 20th symposium in 2019 in Pula were all under the high patronage of the then Presidents of the Republic of Croatia.
HDMK brings together scientists and experts, quality managers, environmental safety, risk managers, auditors, consultants, and all others directly or indirectly involved in quality issues, aiming to:
- Create opportunities for a joint approach to quality improvement,
- Organize activities to promote and popularize quality management systems,
- Expand the culture of quality,
- Protect the professional interests of its members,
- Elevate scientific and professional staff in the field of quality management.
HDMK and its members operate in the spirit of affirming quality policy and improving market economy, social responsibility, and overall democratization of society. HDMK members include prominent scientists and experts in quality management and other fields: pro-rectors and deans of faculties, distinguished university professors, politicians, top managers in Croatian companies, directors of numerous institutions and agencies, and practitioners who promote quality management principles in various activities in their companies and organizations.
HDMK Initiatives:
- MSEECQI – Initiating the Quality Initiative for Central and Southeast European countries and signing a Memorandum of Cooperation and Understanding with organizations, faculties, and associations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Poland, Russia, Romania, and Croatia;
- "Quality as a Strategy" initiative sent to the President of the Republic of Croatia;
- "Quality as a Strategy" initiative sent to the Croatian Chamber of Economy;
- "Quality as a Strategy" initiative sent to the Croatian Employers' Association;
- "Quality as a Strategy" initiative and support for the announced project of introducing quality systems in Croatian public administration by the Ministry of Administration;
- Initiative to the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts for establishing a Scientific Council for Quality at HAZU;
- "Quality as a Strategy" initiative sent to the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, which announced the establishment of an institutional framework for the adoption of a comprehensive development strategy for Croatia by 2030;
- Initiative to establish the Dr. Josip Čiček Award for the best student papers in the field of management systems;
- And many other initiatives.
