Continental was founded in 1871 in Hanover as a joint-stock company under the name “Continental Caoutchouc und Gutta-Percha Companie.” Over time, the company has evolved in terms of product range, number of employees, and geographical reach.

Today, Continental is among the top three suppliers in the automotive industry and currently employs over 200,000 people in 55 countries worldwide. The headquarters of Continental in Serbia is located in Subotica (within the Mali Bajmok Industrial Zone) and belongs to the ContiTech division.

The ContiTech division is among the leading specialized manufacturers of technical products in the rubber sector (excluding automotive tires). The ContiTech division develops and produces functional parts, components, and systems for the automotive industry and other important industries. ContiTech, based in Subotica, manufactures hoses for the automotive industry, as well as SCR lines for installation in commercial and industrial vehicles, which enable the flow of various types of fluids. The company currently employs over 800 people on an area of 21,317 m².

ContiTech Fluid Serbia operates with a "Quality first" strategy - Customer comes first, meaning their high-quality product requirements. Customer orientation and the fulfillment of their demands imply the implementation of management systems (ISO standards) and their continuous improvement. Thus, ContiTech Fluid Serbia received the ISO 9001:2008 standard certificate in January 2013, after only one year of operation. Thanks to teamwork, the dedication of the management team, and a focus on improvements, the company successfully certified the ISO/TS 16949:2009 and ISO 14001:2004 standards in 2014.

In addition to the implemented standards, various quality methods and techniques are applied in the company, such as Brainstorming, SPC, MSA, FMEA, 8D, Ishikawa diagram, 5Why-2How, and others. The company's plans for 2017 include the implementation and successful certification of the new version of the automotive industry standard IATF 16949, as well as the integration of the ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001 standards. There are also plans to apply the corporate "Problem Solving" program within the "Continental Business System," which includes the application of new methods for the company such as Six Sigma, A3, and others.
