Slovenian Accreditation (SA)

Slovenian Accreditation (Slovenska akreditacija, SA) is the national accreditation body for Slovenia. It was established to ensure a professional, independent, and impartial accreditation system that operates under the authorization of the Slovenian government. The initial efforts to create a structured accreditation system began within the Office for Standardization and Metrology (USM) before 1995. In 1999, through the Act on Accreditation, the Slovenian Accreditation Sector (USM-SA) was formalized as a public institution, officially creating Slovenian Accreditation to perform national accreditation tasks in both regulated and non-regulated areas. SA adheres to the requirements of Regulation (EC) 765/2008 and operates in compliance with SIST EN ISO/IEC 17011:2018.

Slovenian Accreditation actively engages in international cooperation and is a member of key accreditation bodies, ensuring Slovenia's interests are represented globally. It is affiliated with the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA), the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).

SA also collaborates within Slovenia's technical quality infrastructure, coordinating with various government ministries, metrology and standardization institutions, professional associations, and higher education bodies to foster the development of quality infrastructure.
