Institute for Standardization of Montenegro (ISME)

The Institute for Standardization of Montenegro (Institut za standardizaciju Crne Gore - ISME) serves as Montenegro's national body for standardization. It was established by the Government of Montenegro in 2007 to support alignment with international and European standards, removing trade barriers and fostering a free flow of goods and services. ISME coordinates standardization activities at the national level, collaborating with government bodies, industry, and other stakeholders to develop and implement Montenegrin standards aligned with international recommendations.

ISME is actively engaged in international cooperation and is a full member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), an associate member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and an affiliate member of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC). Additionally, ISME serves as a contact point for the Codex Alimentarius Commission, focusing on food safety standards, and has established a memorandum of understanding with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), enabling access to ETSI standards and active participation in telecommunications standardization.

Through these partnerships, ISME represents Montenegro’s interests in standardization efforts and strives to meet international and European membership criteria. For more information, please visit ISME's official website.
