Institut Marocain de Normalisation (IMANOR)

The Moroccan Institute for Standardization (IMANOR) is Morocco’s official body for standardization, certification, and accreditation. Operating as a public establishment with legal and financial autonomy, IMANOR functions under the oversight of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment, and Digital Economy. Founded in 2010 to replace SNIMA, previously under the Ministry of Industry, IMANOR maintains administrative and financial independence.

IMANOR is directed by a board composed of representatives from government ministries, professional organizations, research and training institutions, consumer associations, laboratories, and technical centers. Its mission is to enhance the competitiveness of Moroccan companies, support public policies on economic competition and consumer protection, safeguard environmental standards, and improve living standards.

IMANOR’s responsibilities encompass developing Moroccan standards and managing certification for compliance with these standards. It also publishes and disseminates standards, related products, and information, and provides training on standards, implementation techniques, and management systems. Additionally, IMANOR represents Morocco in prominent international and regional standardization organizations, such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), to align Moroccan standards with global requirements and facilitate international trade. IMANOR holds memberships in 38 Participating Member committees, 78 Observing Member committees, and 3 Project Development Committees (PDCs) within ISO, underscoring its role in the global standardization community.

IMANOR’s strategic priorities focus on adapting its offerings to meet the needs of institutional and industrial partners through standard development, certification, and training. Its approach includes expanding digital activities to enable online surveys, training, sales, and international exchanges, and collaborating with foreign organizations to benefit from technical expertise. IMANOR actively promotes its capabilities through broad communication, seeks increased international engagement to stay abreast of global trends, and aims to extend services to underrepresented sectors such as tourism and general services. To enhance service quality, IMANOR follows established quality systems across all activities. With a commitment to economic globalization, IMANOR supports Morocco’s socio-economic development and actively participates in international standardization.
